Determined to produce his own programming, Ralph created Truth or Consequences which was based on a game he played as a boy. TorC premiered in 1940 and became a landmark in broadcast history. For the next 14 years, TorC was radio's #1 audience participation show, and by the time the show debuted on TV in 1950, Edwards' reputation as a creator, producer, writer, and host was well-known. This Is Your Life was Ralph's next success.
